Privacy, in plain English
How The Web Page looks after your details and the enquiries your website receives. Last updated 1 October 2026.
Who we are
The Web Page is the trading name of James Bevan, a sole trader based in West Sussex, England. We build and host websites for small businesses. For anything about your information, email support@thewebpage.co.uk.
What we hold about you
What you tell us in the wizard about your business (its name, what it does, where it works, its contact details, the words and photos for the website), your email address for signing in and receipts, and the record of your subscription: the plan you are on, when you pay and whether the last payment went through.
Your card or bank details are held by Stripe, our payment provider, never by us. We see only the last four digits and the card type, so we can show you which card is on file.
Why we hold it
To build, host and run your website, to take your payments, to reply when you need support, and to email you about your account: sign-in links, your website going live, a payment that failed, a change to the price or the terms. We do not sell your details and we do not send marketing you have not asked for.
Your visitors' enquiries
When someone fills in the contact form on your website, their message goes to you by email and is also kept in your dashboard so an enquiry is never lost. We hold those messages on your behalf and only for that reason: you decide how they are used and how long you keep them. Photos sent with an enquiry are deleted automatically after 90 days.
Visitor statistics on your website are cookieless and count visits without identifying anyone. If you connect your own Google Analytics, Google's cookies and terms apply, and your website's privacy page says so.
Cookies on this site
app.thewebpage.co.uk sets one cookie, to keep you signed in to your dashboard. It holds nothing but a signed reference to your account and expires when your session ends. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Who we share it with
Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (serving and protecting your website), Brevo (sending email), Anthropic (the AI that drafts wording from what you tell us about your business; it does not receive your visitors' enquiries), Deepgram (turning what you say into text when you use the microphone), and our hosting provider in the United Kingdom. Each acts on our instructions to provide the service. We share your details with nobody else unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
For as long as you are a customer, plus 30 days after you cancel so you can still download your website. Billing records are kept for six years as the law requires. Enquiries are kept until you delete them or your account closes.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it, by emailing support@thewebpage.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
While you are building, and when we connect a domain for you
If you ask us to connect a domain you already own and give us the sign-in details for the account where you bought it, we store them encrypted, read them only to make that one change, and delete them as soon as your domain is connected, or after 14 days if it is not. They are never put in an email. We suggest changing your password once your domain is connected.
If you start building a website and give us your email address, we may email you once to help you finish it. That email has a link to stop any more, and you can also just reply and ask.
If you use the microphone to talk instead of typing, what you say is sent to Deepgram, a speech-to-text service, to turn it into the words you see in the box. Deepgram is told not to use it to improve its services, and we keep only the words, never the recording.
